He's always wanting to learn, and he's very excitable. He doesn't have much of a filter and tends to say whatever is on his mind, even if others find it harsh.

He never had many friends before joining the breakers, people usually finding him bothersome.

He stands up for Sho, telling Jin that the Breakers are not a circus, and that they'd prove themselves to him in the tournament.

Though we don't see it much in the anime, in the original manga Chen seems to be very friendly with Saku, as they are often seen holding onto each other and chatting in the background.
